3 wise kings/ Reyes magos -January 6th
When I was little, I was told not to envy the gifts “Papa Noel / Saint Klaus” brought to my friends on Christmas Day, since we were catholics so we received our gifts from the 3 wise kings/Reyes magos instead.
I’m sure that, the toys being on discount prices after christmas and new years, have nothing to do with it, of course not...
So I’ll diligently write my letter to the Reyes magos right before going to bed on January 5th ,then I’ll roll it and place it inside the shoes by the window. and try to go to sleep right after. “You better sleep early” I was told by my mom, “tomorrow is “cabalgata” day.
Las Cabalgatas
On January 6th, across the globe, there are “cabalgatas”, this is when the “Reyes magos” will go out in public and walk or ride around the city, giving out candy to well-behaved boys and girls.

These kinds of parades are also present in most european countries.
Another tradition that we have this day is:
La Rosca de Reyes:

The most traditional pastry of this celebration is called la “Rosca de Reyes”.
This delicious treat is decorated with candied fruit that is meant to resemble the jewels of the 3 Wise Men. In some countries like Mexico there is a figurine hidden inside:

It is said that the person who finds it in his/her slides , have to make the “tamales” and host for “virgen de la candelaria” which is celebrated in February.
Some people go through great lengths not to have this honor:
