Big celebrations around Central America this week, and a couple more in South America. Let's start:
A Very Independent Week:
Back in the 1800s, right before their independence, 5 different countries that are now independent, used to be under the same "Capitania", this was a form of Spanish government used by its focus on the military side, it was administered by a " Capitan General" and there were a handful of them around the 1800s.
Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras ,Costa Rica and Nicaragua claimed their Independence on September 15, 1821. They all signed "Acta de Independencia de Centro America" together.
Now a days, they celebrate a little different from each other, starting with the "desfile de Faroles" the evening of the 14th in Costa Rica. Guatemala presents a parade for the "Recorrido de la antorcha Centro Americana de la libertad". Honduras start their Celebrations a little bit early on September 6, with their "Flag day", and several parades take place in El Salvador.
On September 18th, Chile Commemorates the consolidation of their first independent government body, the " Primera junta nacional de Gobierno" in 1810. even though their independence act was signed on February 12, 1818.
Mexico Is also celebrating their independence on the 16th, we talked a little bit about it on the last update.
This week may be a good time to say hi to some amazing foreign people, we tend to be very welcoming and open to talk about how we commemorate and celebrate our countries these dates:

The Falkland Islands controversy:
This group of Islands were first discovered by the Spanish expeditions of Magallanes in 1520. But were the French who populated them first in 1764, Britain also established a port in "La Gran Malvina" the next year. After some negotiations, France transferred its settling to Spain in 1767.
Spain held control over them since 1770, after expelling the British, who never gave up their claims over the islands.
Argentina took control over the islands after their independence from Spain in 1820. But in 1833, British forces ejected the Argentinian authorities and have established control over the Island ever since.
On 1982, Argentina sent troops over, starting the Falkland Islands War, which lasted 74 days, and ended with the Argentinian surrender on June 14, 1982.
On 2013, there was a referendum, where the residents of the Islands voted to still be part of British territories by a whopping 98.8%
On July 15, 2026. the World cup semi finals were played, in which Argentina defeated England. At the end of the Match, some Argentinian players showed a sign with the words "Las Malvinas son Argentinas" which translates to " The Falkland islands are Argentinians", those players were later fined by FIFA with 321,000 dollars, for bringing Politics to a Match.
Some days later, the Argentinian minister of exterior relations declared: "We have nothing to apologize for,the sign is telling the truth".
Trump Declared on Sept 3rd, 2026 that the US might not help the UK in an eventual conflict with Argentina, since they are not helping Washington on the straight of Hormuz situation.
Since this is a delicate issue, it might not be the best idea to ask for opinions about it.We are just keeping you on the loop.
The "Hand of God" football sold at auction for £2.5m.
Yes, we are still talking about Argentina and Football.
The year was 1982, The world cup final was being played by Argentina and Great Britain. The first Argentinian goal was scored by Maradona using the hand, when later asked about it he responded with:"a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God". He later scored the what is now known as "the goal of the century", on the same match,cementing the defeat of England 2-1.
That very football was sold at auction for 3.3 million dollars last august.

The Quintanillas Situation
AB III Quintanilla, is the brother of Selena Quintanilla (Icon of the Music in Spanish). After her decease, he started the Kumbia Kings ,really famous Cumbia group you should definitely listen to:
He declared last August,he discovered some money related things recently, and he is considering lawsuits against his sister and former member of Selena's group: Suzette Quintanilla.
Economics and Politics
Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, excluded the opposition party to participate in next elections and extended his presidency until 2028 with the help of Nicaragua's Parliament. On July 18th he declared:
"Aqui ya no habra mas Eleciones"
" There is not going to be more Elections Here"
This drew strong criticism all around the world.
